Egonym hat für den britischen Sender BBC in einer Dokumentation über die Internierung chinesischer Demonstranten in der Psychiatrie die Gesichter der Interviewten anonymisiert. Das 2021 gegründete Zürcher Unternehmen Egonym hat es sich laut seiner Mitteilung zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Privatsphäre in einer datengesteuerten Welt zu schützen. Dabei werden die Gesichter durch dessen proprietäre und auf Künstlicher Intelligenz basierende Technologie fotorealistisch und kaum merklich verändert. Die Erkennungsrate liegt trotzdem bei 0 Prozent.
